Who’s Hosting This Sunday’s Virtual Jam?
This week’s jam is hosted by Marianne Brogan from Portland Ukulele Association (PUA).
Marianne loves to teach. She has studied pedagogy techniques with the best, including James Hill. She has taught for 16 years – beginner to intermediate level, private and group instruction. Marianne’s workshops are offered as an educational experience, or as entertainment or team building. Her home-based studio is in inner SE Portland and she travels with loaner ukuleles and teaches regularly at music camps, senior centers, music stores, and group events. An introductory 45-minute workshop – no prior experience expected with loaner instruments provided, is just one option for private groups – a great team building exercise and lots of fun!
Past workshops include: Be in Band Ukulele Ensemble, Barely Beyond Beginner, Back to Basics, Finger-style Ukulele, and Chord Inversions. Marianne has taught at PSGW, NWWomen’s Music Celebration, Milwaukie, WI Ukulele Fest, Hood River Ukulele Fest and Eugene Uketoberfest.

Helpful Zoom Tips
- Zoom is like a video chat with multiple people. Just click the link, and then it will prompt you to download the software. You can run it on your computer, but you can use it on your phone too. It will be difficult to have everyone playing altogether because of latency, so the leader will mute everyone during the song so you’ll hear just the leader singing and playing, and then we’ll unmute between songs so that we can chat.
- Have your music book available on a different device than you’re using for the Zoom (for example, Zoom on your computer or phone, and music on your tablet).”See” you Sunday!
- We can only have 100 people on at a time, first come first served.
