Colonel Summers Park – meet at the SOUTH side of the park, between the basketball courts and the fountain/splash pad., SE Taylor & SE 17th Ave
Organized by Avery Hill & Lois Leveen
SATURDAY, AUGUST 20, 5:30 pm
Meet at 5, warm up with a song or two by 5:30pm, then head out to our next jam destination!
End location: Lone Fir Cemetery: 649 SE 26th Ave, Portland
Grab your ukulele (or other bikeable acoustic instrument) and join our rolling jam to parks and public spaces around inner SE and NE Portland. At each stop, singer-songwriter / ukulele teacher Avery Hill will lead a few simple songs for the group to play and sing. Songs are geared (haha) toward ukulele players, but other instruments and/or sing-along-ers are very welcome. No sheet music or song charts needed. (If the idea of “no music” freaks you out, reach out to Avery directly at www.averyhill.studio/contact, she’ll provide more details.) Riding details: This will not be an arduous ride, we will stick to bike-friendly streets, and no one will be left behind. The ride is NOT a loop but the final stop is only a five-minute ride from the start. Helmets are strongly urged, and we may ride late enough that you’ll want your lights. Also, if you haven’t ridden with an instrument case on your back or your bicycle, give it a try before the ride so you find the right fit / position for you (tip: wear your instrument diagonally across your back to avoid hitting your helmet with it!)
