Before we get into what’s new, here are a few exciting things going on the ukeverse.
Instructors Kate Power and Steve Einhorn are teaching an introductory Ukulele Workshop Wednesday, June 27, 7-8 p.m. at the Tigard Library. They are great fun and I encourage you to check them out.
Second, if you are looking for some structure for your ukulele practice sessions, check out this 20-minute practice session agenda I found on Ukulele Go.
Ukestration = A way of arranging a song so that all levels can enjoy it
I’d like to do something a bit different with TUGs for the next 13 weeks. Let’s call it an experiment. An Ukestration Experiment.
I’m personally motivated by learning new things and having exciting new challenges in my playing. And while strumming and singing can be fun, too much of it can get boring too. So for the next 13 weeks, I’ve designed a curriculum based on the Ukestration method that intermingles fun songs with teaching songs.
You can see my 13-week plan HERE
There’s no cost, no commitment, just a plan to learn some new songs, musical concepts and new skills together over the course of 13 weeks. Don’t worry, it’s not a workshop. There will be plenty of time for playing fun songs each week. But we will also intermix them with curated songs designed to teach a musical lesson.
By the end of 13 weeks, I hope to have memorized 4 songs, arranged 3 songs for Ukestration and learned new musical skills like tab reading, picking, riffing and fast chord changes.
Our Sunday agenda will change a little bit. We’ll have a break in the middle for mingling. And we will have an open mic right after the break. So please keep bringing a song to share with the group.
