We had hoped to be able to start meeting in person in September, but COVID 2.0 had other plans. We’ll continue our virtual jams for at least the next month. Looking forward to seeing everyone!
When?
Sunday, September 12th from 2-3 Pacific Time on Zoom (see link below)
Who’s Hosting This Sunday’s Virtual Jam?
This week’s jam is hosted by TUG’s very own Dana Carter! Here is what she has to say about herself:
I am a hairdresser, yogi, animal fanatic, music lover not afraid to sing out loud @ the drop of a hat…on or off key. I come from a very musical family, then married a musician, recording studio owner and created my own. We have 2 awesome daughters, Gabby & Peyton, 1 dog, Moses and 3 (too many) cats.
Picked up an ukulele for the very 1st time while on vacation on Maui in 2017 during a crazy 38 hour tropical rainstorm (it dropped over 7 inches) so I sat on my lanai watching the squall with my uke and a couple iPad apps . Once home I started searching how to actually learn to play and googled UKULELE and my zip code….thus my love affair with the Tigard Ukulele Group began. I love (almost) all types of music, my playlists are a bit eclectic . and what I don’t have ,yet, in technical skill I make up for with enthusiasm.

Local In-Person Uke Jam
The Wilsonville group has been meeting in person for a couple months now. We started at the park and have moved back to the Park and Rec building and the Community center. The Wilsonville Park and Rec put us in their community flyer as a drop in class. We have two times, since not everyone can come at the same time:
- Wednesday’s at 6pm to 8pm in the Wilsonville Community Center
- Thursday’s at 9am to 11am at the Parks and Rec office across the street from Good Will store. (Brick building on corner of the park)
Helpful Zoom Tips
- Zoom is like a video chat with multiple people. Just click the link, and then it will prompt you to download the software. You can run it on your computer, but you can use it on your phone too. It will be difficult to have everyone playing altogether because of latency, so the leader will mute everyone during the song so you’ll hear just the leader singing and playing, and then we’ll unmute between songs so that we can chat.
- Have your music book available on a different device than you’re using for the Zoom (for example, Zoom on your computer or phone, and music on your tablet).”See” you Sunday!
We can only have 100 people on at a time, first come first served.
